2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Response
The new appointee steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster unveiling last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified employees about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the need for a clearer direction.
The president noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to address gamer demands.
Trend of Key Hires
This announcement echoes a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It affirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper vision.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its promise to our audience.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the outstanding development you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the new Studio Head of the team. After some time of conversations, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.
His guidance and background in the competitive gaming space is vast, having dedicated the last 15 years developing and overseeing some of the most popular titles in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
